The Seafood Innovation Award (Then Grunderpresangen) is a competition aimed at entrepreneurs in the aquaculture industry and offers practical entrepreneurial assistance in a number of areas, as well as a cash prize.
The prize is intended to give the winner a good opportunity to launch and commercialize a new idea, product, or service for the aquaculture industry.
Went all the way to the top
Eldar Lien and the company Searas won the award competition with their optiRAS module, which is a complete unit with an integrated biofilter and drum filter.
Lien tells Kyst.no that optiRAS is a completely new way of designing RAS. He believes that it takes time and requires a lot of resources to introduce a completely new RAS solution.
“Imagine that we won this time. It’s incredibly exciting and a feather in the cap for the entire team at Searas. We must also thank Leirvik, which has invested in Searas as a technology supplier, where we will now build the first pilot together with Bremnes,” he says.
On the threshold of commercialization
Lien says that winning this award means a lot to the company in terms of the publicity and attention it brings.
OptiRAS includes two key products developed by the company: SeaRAS Aquaduct (a combined skimmer, degasser, and water mover that also oxygenates and reduces gas saturation) and SeaRAS Aquasense (their system for real-time measurement and monitoring of water parameters, which can also measure and monitor H2S in the concentrations found in the facilities).
