CIRCMAR, the winner of Seafood Innovation Award 2026, is deleoping a circular packaging system designed to help the seafood industry transition away from single-use transport packaging and comply with upcoming EU reuse requirements. The company’s solution combines reusable boxes and pallets with a service-based business model, allowing seafood producers to rent packaging rather than purchase it.
Reducing about 70% CO₂ emissions
CIRCMAR have already launched its reusable pallet solution, CIRCpall, and plans to introduce its reusable seafood box, CIRCbox, in 2027. The company estimates that its system can reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 70% compared with conventional single-use seafood packaging systems, while lowering packaging waste, improving traceability, and reducing costs across the seafood value chain.
